Principal Electrical Engineer – Hybrid Defence Projects

12+ months
Rate: £40-£55 per hour (Inside IR35)
Working Pattern:
Hybrid (2 days in office)

We are seeking experienced Principal Electrical Engineers to support a growing pipeline of projects within the Defence sector. This is a long-term contract opportunity offering exposure to complex, high-value projects within a well-established multi-disciplinary consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Deliver electrical building services design and consultancy under the direction of the Project Lead

· Produce high-quality design deliverables including drawings, specifications, and reports

· Undertake site surveys and support construction-stage activities

· Carry out design checks and calculations to ensure compliance with relevant standards and client requirements

· Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop efficient, safe, and buildable solutions

· Support tender documentation, fee estimates, scopes of work, and change control processes

· Maintain strong client and stakeholder engagement throughout project delivery

· Ensure awareness and application of CDM regulations

Requirements

Qualifications & Eligibilit

· Ideally Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards (CIBSE or IET)

· Right to work in the UK
Technical Experience

· Strong background in electrical building services design

· Proven experience in technical detailing and specification writing

· Working knowledge of:
oBIM Level 2
oNavisworks, AutoCAD, NBS
oAmtech / Trimble (or Electrical OM exposure desirable)
