CAD Vehicle Packaging Engineer

Responsibilities

• 3D CAD Modelling — Create and maintain robust 3D models and assemblies for vehicle systems.

• Vehicle Architecture Development — Define spatial layouts for powertrain, chassis, interior, electrical, and thermal systems.

• Hardpoint Definition — Establish and manage the master hardpoint database for the vehicle.

• Occupant Packaging — Ensure ergonomic comfort, visibility, ingress/egress, and compliance with human ‑ factors requirements.

• Regulatory Compliance — Apply global standards (FMVSS, ECE, GTR) to packaging and design decisions.

• DMU & Virtual Builds — Lead digital mock ‑ up reviews to validate clearances, interfaces, and serviceability.

• Cross ‑ Functional Integration — Resolve packaging conflicts across body, chassis, powertrain, interior, and electrical teams.

• Benchmarking — Analyse competitor vehicles to inform architecture and design decisions.

• Change Management — Manage CAD updates, version control, and release workflows in PLM systems.

• Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6

• Experience with vehicle packaging, ergonomics, and system integration

• Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering standards, and manufacturing processes

• Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcenter, 3DX)

• Ability to translate engineering requirements into robust CAD and packaging solutions

• Strong communication and cross ‑ functional collaboration skills

• Experience in EV packaging (battery, e ‑ drive, HV systems, thermal management)

• Background in body engineering and integration

• Experience with CAE collaboration, DFMEA, or tolerance analysis

• Exposure to design automation or parametric modelling
