THE ROLEThe Lead Engineer – Chassis Launch (Brakes) is responsible for complete engineering ownership of allocated chassis components during vehicle launch and industrialisation, ensuring successful delivery into production.
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY- Engineering ownership of allocated brakes commodities and associated brackets from the following group:
Brake pipes, brake hoses, brake pedal, accelerator pedal. - Drive all engineering, quality and manufacturing issues to resolution
- Ensure DV, PV, sign-off activities and engineering releases are completed
- Support, pilot, pre-production and production builds
- Deliver components on time, cost and specification
- Manage engineering changes and programme risks
- Coordinate suppliers and cross-functional teams
- Ensure vehicle builds are supported with correct parts and engineering status
- Escalate issues where required
- Support launch activities at Solihull manufacturing facility
- Ensure maturation of components in line with programme plans
- Communicate engineering status to Chassis Launch leader
- Degree in relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience delivering brakes or other chassis components within automotive programmes
- Proven project management and issue resolution capability
- Knowledge of product development, validation and launch processes
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA and structured problem solving
- PC literacy:
Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Understanding of client release and change management systems
- CAD literacy and ability to interrogate CAD models
- Experience supporting BEV vehicle launches
