Your Company: NET Recruit is pleased to be partnering with a well-established and successful commercial organisation in their search for an experienced Senior Finance Analyst to join their finance team in Dorset. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to take on a varied role combining financial reporting, analysis, accounting, budgeting, and business partnering. Working closely with the wider finance function and key stakeholders across the business, the successful candidate will play an important role in providing accurate and meaningful financial insight, supporting informed decision-making, and identifying opportunities to improve financial performance and processes.
Your Role and Responsibilities While in this position, your duties may include but are not limited to:
Providing timely, accurate, and insightful financial reporting and analysis to support business decision-making. Supporting the Finance Business Partner with regular financial reporting, analysis, budgets, and forecasts. Taking responsibility for accurate transactional accounting across key areas including contractual and turnover rent, service charges, rates, and landlords' insurance. Ensuring transactional-level financial data is accurately calculated, posted, and maintained. Supporting the Financial Accounting Manager with accurate and timely IFRS 16 accounting.
Developing a strong understanding of relevant contractual and financial requirements and ensuring these are reflected accurately within financial reporting. Reviewing trading and non-trading operational costs, budgets, and forecasts to identify potential risks and commercial opportunities. Analysing financial and operational performance and providing clear commentary on key variances. Preparing accurate working papers to support accounting entries and month-end reporting. Completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
Preparing month-end cost reporting and variance analysis, providing clear explanations for movements and areas of concern. Supporting the Finance Business Partner with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, including one-off and year-end costs. Preparing balance sheet reviews and providing commentary on significant balances and movements. Reviewing existing finance processes and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting. Challenging existing reporting requirements where appropriate and developing more effective approaches to financial analysis.
Supporting Group and statutory year-end audits and responding to queries relating to the relevant business areas. Working closely with Finance, Property, Planning, Treasury, Tax, and other internal teams to ensure financial information is accurate and effectively communicated. Supporting and developing junior members of the finance team, acting as a positive role model and sharing knowledge and best practice. What You Will Need to Apply:
To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally be a part-qualified or qualified accountant with relevant practical experience gained across a range of finance roles within a commercially focused organisation. You will have strong experience in financial reporting, analysis, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end processes, together with the ability to interpret financial information and turn it into clear and commercially useful insight.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential, alongside excellent attention to detail and the ability to work confidently with large amounts of financial information. You will need to be comfortable investigating discrepancies, resolving issues, and ensuring financial information is accurate and delivered within agreed deadlines. You will also have the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues, explaining complex accounting matters in a straightforward and accessible way.
