Clinical Support Worker – Greville Ward

The closing date is 28 June 2026.

Greville ward is a trauma orthopaedic ward with 3 full‑time vacancies for Clinical Support Workers. The role involves working various shift patterns including long days, early/late and night shifts.

The Clinical Support Worker will deliver high quality, compassionate personal care under the supervision of a registered professional and in partnership with the multidisciplinary team. The post supports safe, effective, and compassionate care and contributes to the delivery of high‑quality healthcare within the Trust.

Responsibilities

Professional Values

  • Maintain Trust values and standards at all times.
  • Ensure records and documentation are kept confidential and meet Trust standards, in line with the Data Protection Act.
  • Promote a positive, professional working environment and maintain high morale within the team.
  • Report accidents, incidents, and safeguarding concerns as per Trust policy.
  • Adhere to Trust dress code, IT, and health‑safety policies.
  • Assist other wards or departments when required.

Clinical Practice

  • Carry out instructions of the registered professional for delivery of care.
  • Perform duties defined in the Trust’s approved core task list for Clinical Support Workers/Health Care Assistants.
  • Report patient concerns or changes in condition to the registered professional.
  • Deliver a high standard of individualized care.
  • Accurately document all care provided, countersigned by a registered professional.
  • Assist in preparation for treatment or procedures.
  • Maintain clinical area cleanliness and safety.
  • Follow infection control procedures.
  • Chaperone or escort patients as needed.
  • Support relatives with compassion and empathy.
  • Assist with the discharge process.

Communications and Interpersonal Relationships

  • Welcome patients, relatives, and visitors; provide assistance and information.
  • Introduce yourself in line with Trust privacy and dignity promises.
  • Answer telephone calls politely and forward enquiries appropriately.
  • Communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to patient care reporting and handover confidentiality.
  • Report incidents, accidents, and complaints per Trust policy.
  • Use Trust information systems and other computer systems.

Team Working

  • Safeguard patient property.
  • Promote a clean, welcoming, and organised environment.
  • Share responsibility for equipment maintenance and cleaning.
  • Dispose of waste and soiled linen per Trust policy.
  • Participate in audits under the registered professional’s direction.
  • Clean and check beds, bed spaces, and lockers after discharge.
  • Ensure deliveries are stored correctly and stock levels are maintained.
  • Support housekeeper with general housekeeping duties.

Education, Training and Personal Development

  • Attend mandatory training (infection control, resuscitation, manual handling).
  • Complete the Trust’s Clinical Support Worker/Health Care Assistant induction programme.
  • Participate in the Trust appraisal process.
  • Undertake training to develop post‑specific and departmental skills.
  • Continue personal development aligned with objectives.
  • Keep up to date with changes in policies and procedures.
Person Specification Qualifications
  • GCSE level A–C in English and Maths or equivalent.
Experience
  • Experience delivering care in a healthcare or people‑centred environment.
  • Experience working as part of a team.

  • Excellent written, verbal and non‑verbal communication.
  • Present information accurately, written and orally.
