We are the leading specialist of abortion advice & treatment in the UK, supporting over 100,000 women a year in over 50 healthcare clinics nationwide.

We are seeking an experienced & values-driven Deputy Chief Operating Officer to join the BPAS Senior Leadership Team at a significant time for the organisation.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Deputy Chief Operating Officer will help to shape operational strategy, lead transformation providing a clear direction of travel that aligns with business and transformation plans, & ensure the highest standards of patient care across a national healthcare charity.

Working closely with Executive colleagues & senior leaders, you will help ensure BPAS has the leadership, workforce & organisational resilience needed to deliver high-quality care & support to the women we serve.

Main duties of the job

As Deputy Chief Operating Officer, you will provide senior operational leadership across BPAS, helping to translate strategy into operational delivery & leading programmes that improve access, quality, productivity & patient outcomes.

You will work collaboratively with operational, nursing, midwifery & medical leaders to drive innovation, improve performance and support the development of new models of care and service delivery.

About You
  • A proven track record of senior operational leadership.
  • Experience of delivering large-scale service transformation & improvement.
  • Significant experience of performance management, capacity planning, KPI delivery and corrective action plans.
  • Experience of managing resources, large budgets and/or cost improvements.
  • Strong understanding of governance, risk management and quality assurance.
  • Excellent relationship-building & influencing skills, with the ability to work across professional & organisational boundaries.
  • The ability to lead confidently through change, balancing strategic thinking with operational delivery.

Experience with in reproductive healthcare, women's health or a related specialty would be advantageous but is not essential.
