Job Purpose

The Asset Information Officer (Condition Data) plays a key role in managing, assuring and developing the asset condition information that supports asset management decisions across the electricity transmission network.

Working at the intersection of engineering, asset management and information management, you'll ensure critical condition datasets provide trusted insight into the health, performance and risk profile of transmission assets. This includes information derived from condition monitoring systems, oil sampling, SF6 emissions, inspections and other asset health assessments.

As a subject matter expert for asset condition information, you'll lead improvements in data quality, reporting and governance, ensuring information is translated into meaningful insight that supports engineering decision-making, regulatory compliance, investment planning and network reliability.

This role acts as a vital bridge between engineers, asset managers and information professionals, helping ensure asset condition information can be trusted to support the effective management of nationally critical infrastructure.

What you'll do
  • Lead the management, assurance and continuous improvement of asset condition information across a range of systems and datasets.
  • Develop and maintain robust processes, controls and governance arrangements to ensure data accuracy, completeness, traceability and compliance.
  • Analyse condition data from multiple sources, including inspections, condition monitoring systems, oil sampling and environmental records, identifying trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate complex technical and engineering information into meaningful asset information and actionable insight.
  • Produce and develop reports, dashboards and performance metrics that support engineering, operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Lead initiatives to improve data quality, information management practices and reporting capabilities across asset condition datasets.
  • Support the delivery of projects associated with asset information, condition monitoring, reporting and digital transformation activities.
  • Act as a key point of contact between engineering, asset management, operational and information teams, ensuring requirements are understood and delivered effectively.
  • Support regulatory, environmental and internal reporting obligations through effective information governance and assurance.
  • Lead investigations into data quality issues, identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
  • Support audits, assurance reviews and business improvement activities, providing expertise on asset condition information and governance requirements.
  • Share knowledge and provide guidance to colleagues across the Asset Information team.
About you

We're looking for someone with a strong understanding of asset information and asset condition management, who can confidently bridge the gap between engineering and data.

You will likely have experience within electricity transmission, utilities, infrastructure, engineering or another asset-intensive environment where asset condition information plays a critical role in operational performance, risk management and investment decision-making.

  • Experience managing and analysing complex asset information and condition datasets.
  • Strong understanding of how condition data is used to assess asset health, performance, risk and investment priorities.
  • Experience using tools such as Power BI, Python, Excel and other analytical or reporting platforms.
  • Excellent data analysis skills, with the ability to identify trends, anomalies and actionable insights from large datasets.
  • Knowledge of asset management principles, asset life cycles and information governance frameworks.
  • Experience developing reporting, dashboards and performance metrics for technical and business stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, asset managers, operational teams and senior leadership.
  • Experience leading improvement initiatives, projects or work streams relating to asset information, reporting or data quality.
  • The ability to interpret technical and engineering information and translate it into meaningful business insight.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge, recommend and drive improvements where required.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of electricity transmission assets and condition monitoring techniques.
