The role of Head of Community Protection (interim) seeks an experienced leader to maintain and transform services during Local Government Reorganisation.
Main Responsibilities- Provide strategic and operational leadership for Environmental Health and Licencing services.
- Lead, motivate and develop high‑performing teams, fostering a positive and collaborative culture.
- Ensure statutory responsibilities are delivered effectively, maintaining high standards of customer service and regulatory compliance.
- Drive continuous service improvement, innovation and performance across the service.
- Work closely with the Interim Head of Community Protection to support LGR reorganisation, organisational change and the future design of services.
- Collaborate with the temporary Private Sector Housing Manager to review the structure and delivery of the Private Sector Housing service, ensuring resilience, efficiency and compliance with future legislative and service demands.
- Build effective relationships with members, partners, residents and other stakeholders, representing the service at a senior level.
- Manage budgets, resources and performance to ensure services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Recognised Environmental Health qualification and eligibility for professional membership.
- Significant management experience within Environmental Health services, including experience of Private Sector Housing.
- Experience of leading organisational change, service reviews, restructures or transformation programmes.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong knowledge of the legislative framework affecting Environmental Health, Licencing and Private Sector Housing.
- Excellent communication, partnership working and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience of managing budgets, performance and resources effectively.
- Ability to think strategically while maintaining a strong operational focus and commitment to excellent customer service.
37 hours per week – Fixed Term until 31 March 2028 – Pay £59,852 – £62,585.
