Clinical Nurse Specialist
Are you an experienced registered nurse with a passion for improving the care of patients experiencing acute and complex pain? We have an opportunity to join the Acute Pain Service at South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 6 Nurse Specialist.
This is a predominantly clinical role, with at least 80% of your time focused on supporting and managing a specialist caseload. Working closely with anaesthetists, surgeons, ward teams, pharmacy and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help deliver safe, evidence-based and compassionate pain management across the organisation.
The post offers a varied mix of direct patient care, specialist advice, education, clinical leadership, audit and service improvement. You will assess and review patients receiving complex pain-management interventions, including patient-controlled analgesia, epidural analgesia, local anaesthetic infusions and regional anaesthetic techniques, while supporting patients and colleagues to achieve the best possible outcomes.
You will join a supportive specialist team and have the opportunity to develop your expertise while contributing to the continued development of acute pain services, specialist clinics and education across the Trust.
A clinical expert and leader, working autonomously as a member of the multi-professional team to provide specialist advice and is accountable for service delivery across the Trust. Able to make informed decisions within their own specialty and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards and targets are met.
The post holder will have advanced knowledge in caring for the patients with Acute Pain and be responsible for the assessment and management of them. They will provide direct patient management through health assessment, initiation of treatment and alteration of treatment plans. The post holder will initiate and participate in audit and research projects relating to the Acute Pain service. They will facilitate the development of clinical practice through education of the multi-disciplinary team.
They will be a specialist resource for other healthcare practitioners and ensure the highest standards of clinical care. The post holder will have managerial and leadership responsibility for the Acute pain service.
