Warwick District Council manages approximately 6000 homes. We are currently expanding to help people thrive in our communities and have an exciting opportunity for additional Housing Officers to join our Landlord Operations Team.
What we are looking forTo be successful in this role, you will need previous experience in housing management and a strong understanding of tenancy management, safeguarding, anti‑social behaviour, and neighbourhood management principles.
Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills are essential, alongside the ability to manage a diverse caseload and work collaboratively with external agencies and internal stakeholders.
You will also need to be proactive, organised, and confident in dealing with challenging situations whilst maintaining excellent customer service standards.
You will need good interpersonal skills, an ability to work flexibly to changing demands and operate in a coordinated manner with other team members and clients.
Key responsibilitiesAs a Housing Officer, you will be based predominantly out on patch delivering a comprehensive housing management service, managing a range of tenancies and related responsibilities. This will include tenancy sustainment, anti‑social behaviour case management, managing breaches of tenancy, safeguarding, inspections, customer signposting, tenancy audits and supporting sustainable communities through proactive intervention.
You will work closely with customers, contractors, local agencies, and internal teams to resolve issues effectively, supporting vulnerable tenants, whilst maintaining a visible presence within neighbourhoods. The role will also involve carrying out tenancy checks, supporting new tenancy sign‑ups, managing abandoned properties, and assisting with community engagement initiatives.
- Working with tenants and customers using a problem‑solving and flexible approach in undertaking day‑to‑day duties to achieve positive outcomes and utilising mediation skills when dealing with difficult problems.
- Identifying support needs to help our customers sustain their tenancies.
- Balancing support with enforcement and representing Warwick District Council in court where appropriate.
- Proficient in ICT applications.
- Confident communicator, both written and verbal, working with housing clients.
- High emotional intelligence.
- Background in housing.
- Experience interpreting complex housing legislation.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
37 hours per week – Permanent.
