About the Role
Transport Operations arranges all home-to-school transport provision for students with special educational needs as well as transport to day‑care services for adults.
Key ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for Drivers to join us on a relief ad‑hoc basis, covering absences. Drivers will operate specially adapted large vehicles and work as part of a team on a split shift system. The morning shift runs between 7:00 am and 11:00 am, and the afternoon shift between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm on weekdays.
Responsibilities include transporting adults and children to day‑care, respite placements and schools in the Warwickshire area. You will assist passengers on and off the bus, some of whom may have physical and learning disabilities, ensuring their comfort and safety. You will maintain vehicle records, clean and tidy the bus after each use, and support wider team duties and Passenger Assistant tasks.
The role is based at Rugby Main Depot but also requires work in Nuneaton and Warwick as needed. A full package of training will be provided.
Key Requirements- Clean Driving Licence with Category D1.
- Availability to work early‑morning and afternoon shifts.
- Good communication and customer care skills.
- Ability to work within a team and on your own initiative, be flexible, and handle confidential information with tact.
- Experience working in a multi‑cultural environment and with young and elderly people who are disabled (advantageous).
Successful applicants will be subject to pre‑engagement checks, including a relevant Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
The Fluency Duty requires accurate spoken English to the public.
