Summary

As a Material Handler Apprentice, you will build practical, hands‑on experience across all aspects of warehouse operations, from receiving and checking deliveries to storing stock, picking and packing orders, preparing goods for dispatch, maintaining accurate records, and keeping the workspace clean and organised.

Annual wage

£16,661.84 First year only! The pay may be negotiated and may rise after a probation period has been successfully completed.

37 hours per week, 06:30–16:00 Monday to Thursday (32 hours per week, 07:00–15:30 Monday to Thursday if candidate is under 18).

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands‑on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work
  • Work towards the Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2 standard.
  • Engage in formal training and education over a defined period and shadow and learn from mentors and colleagues.
  • Complete exams and assignments and ensure all assignment work is completed in a timely manner and to a high standard.
  • Meet quality standards in line with BS EN ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Attend learning sessions to complete the Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2 standard.
  • Prepare for and complete the End Point Assessment.
  • Follow health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
  • Accurately complete job records, training logs, and documentation.
  • Commit to uphold the company values while working in a fast‑paced environment.

  • GCSE any subject grade 9–3 (A*–D) essential.

  • GCSE Mathematics (grade 9–3) essential.
  • GCSE Science (grade 9–3) essential.
