Job SummaryCoordinate production planning across fermentation, granulation, and packaging processes based on forecast and sales projections. Responsibilities include managing the master production schedule (MPS), rough‑cut capacity planning (RCCP), and material management at the company’s site in Wasco, CA. The planner will develop and optimize effective supply‑planning processes using the company’s ERP system (Net Suite), ensuring clear communication with stakeholders. The role plays a key part in the development and management of the S&OP process, requiring collaboration and analysis to support effective decision making.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a 12+ month rolling master production schedule, ensuring compliance with manufacturing material requirements and incorporating forecasts, backlogs, open orders, and capacity constraints; create an annual production plan for budgetary purposes.
- Liaise with all relevant stakeholders and functions to ensure the production plan represents a consensus view.
- Develop consistent, effective supply‑related reporting and KPIs to highlight issues and drive actions.
- Develop balanced plant‑optimization schedules to achieve customer demand and factory utilization targets.
- Develop RCCP plans to analyze and negotiate resource requirements.
- Maintain flexibility in the plan to accommodate shifting priorities within defined time periods (frozen, slushy, liquid).
- Resolve material shortages, backlogs, and other potential schedule interruptions.
- Calculate and manage safety‑stock parameters periodically to align with market reaction times during demand spikes or dips.
- Drive continuous improvement of material‑flow processes in support of procurement and manufacturing goals.
- Own plant data objects from a coordination perspective, influencing planning and procurement of materials (planner/buyer SOP, lot sizing, safety stock, procurement parameters, etc.) to optimize inventory management.
- Identify warehouse and logistics challenges and opportunities, leading projects to eliminate non‑value‑added waste and improve performance.
- Develop, manage, and archive SOP for all supply‑planning activities (ISO 9001).
- Support business‑wide initiatives, communications, and improvement projects as a core member of the supply‑chain team.
- Independent contributor able to handle multiple priority tasks simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Strong time‑management skills, sense of urgency, and ability to work independently and within a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations/Production Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive production‑planning experience.
- Fundamental understanding of supply‑chain, planning, and procurement processes within a manufacturing organization.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Minimum 2–5 years in a solid manufacturing environment with an emphasis on supply/production planning.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP designation.
- Net Suite proficiency.
- Planning experience in a global manufacturing or biotech organization.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer in an office setting.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
- Finger dexterity to support keyboard tasks.
- Occasional time spent outside in a warehouse environment.
