What You'll Do

  • Schedule pickups and deliveries with carriers, freight brokers, customers, and vendors.
  • Obtain and compare freight quotes and help select appropriate carriers based on cost, service, and delivery requirements.
  • Confirm customer delivery requirements and any special handling needs before shipments are scheduled.
  • Prepare and maintain bills of lading and other required shipping documentation.
  • Track shipments and provide updates on delivery status.
  • Communicate delays, damages, missed pickups, and other transportation issues to the appropriate teams.
  • Work closely with warehouse personnel to coordinate loading, unloading, and shipment schedules.
  • Communicate with Sales and Customer Service regarding shipment status and customer delivery requirements.
  • Research and resolve freight billing discrepancies and unexpected freight charges.
  • Manage and follow through on freight claims involving damaged, lost, or delayed shipments.
  • Maintain accurate freight, carrier, and shipment records.
  • Help identify and prevent avoidable accessorial charges, including detention, re‑delivery, liftgate, residential, and limited‑access charges.
  • Monitor carrier performance, freight costs, and service levels.
  • Help identify opportunities to reduce freight costs and improve transportation efficiency.
  • Coordinate expedited shipments when necessary.
  • Assist with routing and consolidation of shipments when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate shipment and freight information in ERP, shipping, and related systems.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with carriers, brokers, vendors, and internal departments.
  • Support other logistics and operational responsibilities as needed.
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional education or training in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or business is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in freight coordination, logistics, transportation, shipping, distribution, or a related field required.
