Job DescriptionLocate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position is a key component in ensuring that the area complies with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations.
An understanding of multiple locating methods is required. The technician will be dispatched to locate and verify for utility customers and may work independently or in a team, always under the direction of an assigned supervisor. The job requires focus, skill, and the use of machinery and tools. Grid Hawk LLC is an equal opportunity employer. - Complete a background check; no violations within the last five years.
- Pass a DOT drug test.
- State‑issued driver’s license.
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs and stand/walk for multiple hours a day.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Problem‑solving ability and proficiency reading and interpreting technical prints.
- Company vehicle, laptop, and smartphone.
- All personal protective equipment provided.
- Locate underground facilities by using transmitters and connecting them to buried facilities or pedestals.
- Work and walk over all types of terrain in and around construction zones and residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas in all weather conditions.
- Interpret job‑order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
- Perform locates and emergency/on‑call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary to meet customer needs.
- Perform all work timely, professionally, and efficiently while effectively communicating with customers, co‑employees, and third parties.
- Communicate with management, contractors, and utility customers to ensure a damage‑free environment.
- Show knowledge of the necessary technology and tools.
- Work well with others in a supervised team environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalency (GED).
- State‑issued driver’s license.
- Problem‑solving ability.
- Ability to read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints.
- Vacuum truck experience (A+).
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours a day.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Pass a background screening (no violations within the last five years).
- Pass a DOT drug test.
