As a Controls Engineer, you'll play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of innovative control systems. Working closely with design, production, commissioning, and project teams, you'll help deliver high-quality solutions for a range of complex engineering applications.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop control systems for power generation and distribution applications
- Program PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
- Configure and integrate control equipment and automation systems
- Produce and review technical documentation including I/O schedules, control philosophies, and functional specifications
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
- Support system integration using industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profinet, and Ethernet/IP
- Carry out testing activities and support commissioning on-site when required
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues throughout project delivery
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project completion
- Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Control Systems, Automation Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in a Controls, PLC, or Automation Engineering position
- Strong understanding of electrical control systems within an industrial environment
- Experience with, Rockwell, Schneider, or similar PLC platforms
- HMI and/or SCADA development experience
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Power generation, energy, or power distribution experience
- Generator control and load management systems
- Control and protection systems
- AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar software
- Previous commissioning experience
- 18th Edition qualification
