Position Overview

The Preconstruction Manager plays a critical leadership role in the planning and development phases of our paving and civil construction projects. This individual will collaborate with clients, engineers, estimators, and project managers to ensure accurate budgeting, scheduling, and constructability reviews before projects break ground. The ideal candidate will bring over a decade of hands‑on experience in construction—preferably with a strong background in asphalt and concrete paving—and be well‑versed in project development and value engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the preconstruction phase of multiple projects from initial concept through contract award.
  • Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports to develop accurate scope of work.
  • Collaborate with estimators to develop detailed cost estimates and budgets.
  • Coordinate with clients, design professionals, and internal teams to ensure feasibility, value engineering, and cost control.
  • Develop and manage preconstruction schedules, phasing plans, and logistics.
  • Identify project risks and recommend mitigation strategies early in the planning process.
  • Participate in subcontractor selection and assist in bid package development.
  • Work with the operations team to ensure seamless transition from preconstruction to construction.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of preconstruction activities and decisions.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience in asphalt and concrete is preferred.
  • Proven track record managing the preconstruction process for commercial or civil projects.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical construction documents and specifications.
Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
