We are facilitating an upcoming contract position for our client, a beautiful and historic residence museum in Washington, DC. This is a temporary position to provide maternity leave coverage. We are seeking candidates fully open and able to commit to a temporary role.
Schedule:
Fully in person Monday-Friday. Parking is available and also close to red line Metro.
Timeframe:
Mid January-approximately mid April
Hourly rate: $26 an hour
Qualifications- Associate's degree in Accounting at minimum, Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred, but not required.
- At least 2 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
- General ledger and accounting system experience (MIP Fund Accounting is a plus).
- Highly professional and detail-oriented.
Job Duties and Focuses Accounting
- Process and log-checks and cash received.
- Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations.
- Manage investment and accounting entries.
- Process credit card receipts and sales reports.
- Prepare spreadsheets and reports for deposits.
- Research issues and problems; recommend and implement solutions.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly and fiscal year close and reporting.
- Ensure accounting policies are followed.
- Work closely with the Director of Finance and other accounting team members to improve accounting processes, enhance financial reporting, establish controls, and implement best practices.
- Provide back-up support to other members of Finance department during peak periods and short‑term absences.
- Establish and maintain controls over inventory in conjunction with Director of Retail Operations.
- Reconcile to general ledger.
- Provide supporting documentation and financial information for grant applications.
- Document proof of expenditure uses as follow‑up proof for grant process.
