Location: Washington, DC
Compensation: Up to 115k + Bonus
Type: Full-time, Direct-hire
Our clients, a leading organization in the government contracting space, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This role plays a key role in managing and reconciling balance sheet accounts for multiple legal entities. The position supports core accounting functions including month‑end close, quarterly reporting, year‑end audit preparation, while driving process improvements and supporting system enhancements. This position offers exposure to a complex, multi‑entity environment within a fast‑paced organization.
Key Responsibilities- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close for 60+ legal entities in compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statements
- Support consolidations, including intercompany eliminations and variance analysis
- Manage operating and finance lease accounting under ASC 842, including lease schedules and asset lifecycle tracking
- Reconcile payroll and payroll tax accounts; analyze large datasets to identify discrepancies and process improvements
- Partner with payroll to assess accounting impacts and recommend operational enhancements
- Reconcile intercompany balances (due‑to/due‑from, IWOs) and resolve discrepancies
- Coordinate intercompany reporting with the parent company
- Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audits; maintain SOX‑compliant controls
- Collaborate with IT and finance systems teams to optimize ERP functionality and improve processes
- Provide guidance to accounting staff and cross‑functional partners
- Support system implementations, reorganizations, M&A integrations, and ad‑hoc financial analysis
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles
- Experience with lease accounting under ASC 842
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines associated with month‑end close and year‑end audits
Preferred:
- Experience in general ledger accounting within a government contracting environment
- Combination of public accounting and private industry experience
