Accountant, Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting

Description We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Washington, District of Columbia. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong background in financial management within the non-profit sector. The role involves handling various accounting tasks to ensure accurate financial records and compliance with organizational standards.

Responsibilities:

- Manage general ledger entries and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.

- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain organized and up-to-date accounting records.

- Perform reconciliations for accounts, including bank statements and other financial documents.

- Utilize Net Suite and Microsoft Great Plains Accounting software to process transactions and generate reports.

- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of monthly and annual financial close processes.

- Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and propose solutions.

- Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and support.

- Maintain compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies.

- Contribute to the improvement of accounting processes and systems.

- Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed. Requirements - Proven experience in accounting roles, preferably within the non-profit industry.

- Strong proficiency in general ledger management and journal entry preparation.

- Expertise in performing reconciliations and resolving financial discrepancies.

- Hands-on experience with Net Suite and Great Plains Accounting software.

- Solid understanding of accounting principles and standards.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.

- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
