Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. This role involves managing key accounting operations for a government contractor and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The ideal candidate will excel in handling payroll, accounts payable, billing, and government invoicing, while contributing to the smooth functioning of financial systems.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, payroll, and billing processes.

- Manage contract setup and maintenance in the financial system in alignment with agency procedures and contractual requirements.

- Prepare and process invoices for government agencies with accuracy and timeliness.

- Ensure client billing codes are current and properly organized within the company's shared systems.

- Reconcile accounts and contribute to the preparation of monthly financial reports.

- Process payroll efficiently while adhering to federal regulations and company policies.

- Collaborate with team members to support accurate and compliant government invoicing.

- Maintain financial records using Quick Books and ensure data integrity across all systems.

- Assist in month-end close processes, including journal entries and bank reconciliations.

Requirements

- A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting roles.

- Proficiency in government contract accounting, including T& M, Fixed Pricing, and Cost Plus Pricing structures.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.

- Advanced skills in Quick Books and Microsoft Excel.

- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.

- Experience in bank reconciliations and journal entries.

- Ability to handle month-end close processes with accuracy and efficiency.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
