Clark Construction is seeking a skilled and safety-driven certified Crane Operator with experience operating Telescopic/Swing, Lattice, Articulating cranes to support our Federal projects across the Mid-Atlantic region. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, precision, and teamwork while assisting with the movement, placement, and lifting of materials and equipment on active job sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Telescopic/Swing, Lattice, Articulating cranes safely and efficiently in accordance with lift plans, site conditions, and Clark Construction safety standards.
  • Conduct daily inspections of cranes and lifting gear; promptly report any mechanical or safety issues.
  • Rig, lift, and position materials, equipment, and structural components under the direction of site supervision.
  • Collaborate closely with riggers, signal persons, and field leadership to ensure all lifting activities are performed safely and effectively.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate inspection checklists, lift documentation, and operator records.
  • Support general site operations and equipment-related tasks when crane operations are not required.
  • Uphold all Clark Construction, OSHA safety standards and procedures on Federal job sites.

Qualifications
  • Must be willing to join the local union.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must read and speak English efficiently.
  • Telescopic/Swing, Lattice, Articulating crane experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Valid NCCCO (or equivalent) Crane Operator Certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of rigging practices, load chart interpretation, and safe lifting procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand lift plans, equipment manuals, and site drawings.
  • Proven track record of maintaining a strong safety culture and working effectively within a team environment.
Physical Demands

The physical demands described below are representative of those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role on a construction site. This role requires significant physical exertion, including the ability to navigate active construction areas with uneven terrain, temporary and permanent stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and personnel hoists. Constant standing, walking, and performing repetitive physical tasks are required daily.

The employee must frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing over 50 pounds with assistance or team lifting techniques. This position requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching (above and below shoulder level). The employee must possess sufficient physical dexterity and balance to work safely at various heights and in confined spaces.

Visual acuity (including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus) is essential for tasks such as reading instructions, operating equipment, and ensuring safety. Adequate hearing (with or without assistive devices) is required to understand instructions and warnings in a noisy environment.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee encounter while performing the essential functions of this role at a Clark Construction site. The employee will regularly work outdoors and may be exposed to varying and potentially extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow. The work environment frequently involves exposure to moving mechanical equipment, high noise levels, dust, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, and potential electrical hazards.

Work regularly occurs at heights and in confined spaces. The employee must be able to work safely around heavy equipment and construction traffic.
