Job DescriptionChildren’s Choice Pediatric Dentistry is a full‑service pediatric dental center that provides specialized care to children aged 0–16 and those with special challenges. The practice offers a state‑of‑the‑art facility featuring laser therapy, Itero technology, in‑house IV anesthesia, orthodontics, and a range of interdisciplinary therapies at Thrive House. The mission is to deliver preventive care education and create a dynamic dental home for patients while providing evidence‑based clinical dentistry, exceptional customer service, and integrity.
This full‑time position is not remote and requires a hands‑on professional ready to contribute to the community’s dental health. You will work under the direct supervision of experienced dentists and play a crucial role in the smooth functioning of dental procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities- Turn on all units, wall switches, and equipment.
- Check sterilization area and prepare instruments and tray setup for the day.
- Ensure all treatment rooms are ready, stocked, and cleaned.
- Seat patients and review proper setup procedures before the dentist enters the treatment room.
- Review schedule to identify outstanding treatments, scheduling issues, and opportunities for same‑day treatment.
- Prepare notes for morning meetings.
- Assist the dentist for all procedures, anticipating needs at all times.
- Take and process photos and x‑rays, take impressions, and make temporary crowns.
- Assist with nitrous oxide administration and manage medical or dental emergencies.
- Chart all patients, record medical and dental histories, and ensure accurate notes.
- Greet, seat, and dismiss patients, conducting daily chart audits and review of medical history.
- Educate patients on the value and importance of proposed treatment plans.
- Manage sterilization following guidelines and maintain sterilization area and logs.
- Maintain all dental equipment, order supplies, and coordinate with service representatives for maintenance.
- Perform simple laboratory procedures and maintain the lab area.
- Manage administrative duties at the front desk, including appointment scheduling and patient follow‑up.
- Participate in practice promotion through meetings and continuing education activities.
- Successful completion of a one‑year Dental Assistant Program from an accredited institution.
- Valid dental licenses in MD and/or DC.
- At least two years of job experience as a dental assistant.
- Mandatory X‑ray certification.
- Certified in Cardio‑Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and dental practice software like Dentrix.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and team members.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain flexible with duties.
- Familiarity with emergency protocols and ability to perform effectively in emergency situations.
- Exposure to conditions typical of a dental clinic environment, including infectious waste exposure.
- Ability to lift or move items up to 30 lbs as required for the role.
