Job Overview:
The hired candidate will help maintain 600 sites with the telecom team in the North Capitol DC region and other remote sites. They will support add/move/changes for users, system and network troubleshooting, system and office migrations, manage projects and ticket queue, coordinate with 3rd‑party vendors for additional support/new installations, and provide additional support to VTC and Network engineering teams on system requirements.

They will report to a senior telecom engineer who will provide training, tasking, and guidance.
The role also involves translating business requirements into telecommunications (LAN, MAN, WAN, Voice and Video) requirements, design, orders, and administration; conducting in‑depth engineering analysis of telecom alternatives (VoIP, Cloud Hosted Solution) for government agencies; providing interface support to end users, operations personnel, and strategic program management; delivering project tracking and guidance to team members; and reporting to the customer.

Responsibilities:

• Provide support to the User Community for ICE specific telecommunications business needs and services.

• Ensure Avaya system requirements are met, including third‑party software and/or hardware.

• Application support for custom app groups within the ICE network.

• Collaborate with clients and sales staff to support projects and service requests.

• Provide 24/7 production outage recovery support.

• Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for training a dynamic workforce.

• Provide end‑user training remotely and in person.

• Produce and maintain documentation, reports, SOPs, data spreadsheets, etc.

• Submit weekly status reports.

Qualifications:

Required:

• 5+ years of telecom experience.

• Experience and ability to independently support, administer, engineer, and troubleshoot Avaya telecommunications systems, hardware, and applications.

• Experience providing remote technical support to vendors and end users for complex network & switching systems.

• Working knowledge of cable and terminated telephone and data jacks; IPs; ports/port security.

• Ability to configure networks to ensure smooth data transmission that fulfills organizational objectives.

• Oversee new and existing telecom equipment’s hardware and software upgrades.

• Remote programming and preparation of Avaya phone systems for site‑specific installations across the country.

• Experience designing and implementing LAN, WAN, wireless LAN, and WWAN.

• Identify and fix problems within existing systems, design/implement new systems, enhance existing systems, and participate in analysis, design, and construction of next‑generation IT systems.

• Provide analysis, design/engineering of solutions, implementation, documentation, and transition services.

Desired:
Certifications such as Avaya Badges, CTNS, iNARTE, IPEP, NCTI, CCNA, CCNP, or CCNE.
