Summary
You will serve as an ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER/PHYSICAL SCIENTIST in the Environmental Division of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.

Salary$120,579 to $156,755 per year (GS‑13)
Duties- Liaison and coordination with NDW installation environmental staff and organizational components within NAVFAC.
- Provide technical advice and assistance on interpretation and applicability of environmental regulations and Navy policy.
- Environmental compliance project support for customers outside of Navy and coordinate all aspects of execution.
- Ensure consistent high‑quality documentation for contracted environmental engineering projects.
- Advise developmental environmental compliance project managers in the execution of projects, providing guidance to achieve full potential.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees must pass E‑Verify employment verification check.
- Current federal employees must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
- Retired military members must meet DoD appointment requirements.
- Male born after 12‑31‑59 must register for Selective Service.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid US driver's license.
- Must obtain and maintain an interim or final security clearance prior to duty entrance.
Selective Placement Factor (SPF) – current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any state, District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico. Provide a copy of your current registration with your application.
At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to GS‑12 in environmental compliance products and services supporting Clean Air Act (CAA) and/or Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Specialized experience must demonstrate:
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) for environmental compliance products and services in support of CAA and/or TSCA.
- Mastery knowledge of advanced environmental engineering concepts and practices.
- Expert technical advice on interpretation of environmental laws and regulations.
- Review of design plans and specifications for environmental improvements.
Basic requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET accredited) or related field. Alternative path: combination of education and experience with successful professional registration or licensure. Current PE registration required for SPF.
