Overview
LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist to support FAA operations and programs. This role involves providing technical expertise, analytical support, and project coordination to ensure compliance with FAA regulations, policies, and objectives. The Technical Specialist will collaborate with engineers, analysts, and program managers to enhance aviation safety, air traffic management, and infrastructure development.
Responsibilities- Provide technical expertise in support of FAA programs related to air traffic management, safety systems, or aviation infrastructure.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of FAA policies, procedures, and technical standards.
- Conduct data analysis, system evaluations, and performance assessments to improve FAA operations.
- Support program planning, documentation, and risk management activities.
- Coordinate with FAA personnel, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with federal regulations and standards.
- Develop technical reports, white papers, and presentations on aviation-related projects.
- Assist with testing, integration, and validation of new technologies and systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to FAA-supported projects.
- Provide subject matter expertise in areas such as air navigation, communication systems, cybersecurity, or unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
- Ensure projects align with FAA strategic goals and operational requirements.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Aviation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of technical experience in aviation, aerospace, air traffic management, or a related field.
- Familiarity with FAA regulations, policies, and technical requirements (e.g., NAS, Next Gen, SWIM).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills.
- Experience working with government agencies, particularly the FAA.
- Ability to analyze technical data, generate reports, and provide actionable insights.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and technical tools relevant to FAA projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
- FAA certifications or training (e.g., Part 107 for drones, ATC certifications).
- Experience with concepts of systems engineering, software development, or cybersecurity in aviation.
- Knowledge of data visualization, or modeling tools relevant to aviation systems.
- Understanding of emerging technologies in aviation, such as automation or UAS integration.
