Location:

Salary: $150,000 - $165,000 / annually

Our client is a mission‑driven, Washington D.C.–based nonprofit organization with annual revenues exceeding $100 million. They are dedicated to creating measurable impact through national and international programs and seek an experienced Controller to lead accounting and financial operations.
Responsibilities- Lead all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with GAAP, OMB, and donor requirements.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and board reports.
- Manage the organization’s annual audit and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Partner with senior leadership to develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.
- Support strategic financial initiatives, systems implementation, and process improvements.
- Collaborate with program and grants management teams to ensure accurate project‑level accounting and reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (MUST – no exceptions).
- Nonprofit experience with an organization having $100M or more in annual revenue.
- 8+ years as a controller or assistant controller.
- Demonstrated record of tenure and advancement within prior organizations.
