Tax Associate, Washington National Tax - Mergers & Acquisitions - JD/LLM

Join KPMG’s Washington National Tax practice to work on high‑profile mergers & acquisitions projects, advising clients on complex tax structuring and supporting cross‑functional engagements.

Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on corporate tax services, including planning, research, and acquisition‑related structuring.
  • Collaborate with team members to prepare deliverables and support other tax group members on consolidated returns and entity‑level tax issues.
  • Identify and analyze tax risks related to potential acquisitions, liaise with target company finance and tax advisors to gather data.
  • Draft tax memoranda, opinions, and articles; review and perform risk‑management activities.
  • Assist clients with bankruptcy, restructuring, or other related tax matters.
  • Build capabilities in key tax technologies such as AI, Alteryx, Power BI, and more.
Qualifications
  • JD and/or LLM or equivalent program completed by the start date.
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Knowledge of corporate and partnership tax matters, focusing on M&A.
  • Strong technical aptitude, critical thinking, and MS Office skills.
  • Excellent communication, time management, leadership, and adaptability.
  • Experience navigating AI, Alteryx, and Power BI.
  • Reside within commutable distance to Washington, DC office and able to travel as needed.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
