In addition to the education required for this position, you must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 level. Specialized experience is defined as:
Experience applying federal accounting standards to review and analyze financial transactions in automated systems; reconciling ledger data to ensure accuracy and compliance with the Department of the Treasury (TREAS) and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) requirements; identifying and researching accounting discrepancies or internal control issues; and advising management on the financial impact of policies, procedures, and operational changes.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
