Deputy Inspector General Summary

At the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), employees serve Congress, the Supreme Court, and the public with integrity and accountability. The Office of Inspector General (OIG) advances efficiency by preventing and detecting waste, fraud, and abuse. The Deputy Inspector General supports the Inspector General through leadership, oversight, and management of audits, investigations, and reviews that strengthen performance and safeguard public resources.

Duties

Support the Inspector General through leadership and oversight of audits, investigations, inspections, and reviews to enhance performance and protect public resources.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Candidates must demonstrate senior‑level leadership experience directing or overseeing complex audits, investigations, inspections, evaluations, or other oversight work, along with strong executive management capabilities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more relevant disciplines, such as auditing, accounting, financial analysis, law, investigations, management analysis, or public administration.
  • Proven experience providing executive leadership and management of professional staff engaged in complex oversight work, with a record of building and sustaining high‑performing teams.
  • Knowledge of federal laws, rules, and regulations applicable to oversight functions, including but not limited to the Inspector General Act of 1978 and professional standards issued by the Comptroller General and the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE).
  • Operational knowledge required to manage an Office of Inspector General, including oversight planning, procurement, resource and workforce management, internal controls, quality assurance processes, and compliance with applicable professional standards.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to lead effectively, build internal and external working relationships gdnd deliver timely, high‑quality oversight services and reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • A demonstrated record of integrity, accountability, and ethical leadership, and the ability to lead in a dynamic operational environment with concurrent and competing priorities.
  • The Deputy Inspector General serves at the pleasure of the Inspector General.
  • You must meet the United States Office of Personnel წერსManager's (OPM) qualification requirements for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. For the ECQs and PTQs, you are required to submit a narrative response addressing your specific knowledge, skills and abilities that demonstrate your possession of the qualifications.
  • Applicants currently serving in a Senior‑Rated (SR) appointment (other than a temporary promotion), career Senior Executive Service (SES) appointment, or have successfully completed a SES Candidate Development Program and have been certified by the Office of Personnel Manager do not need to address the ECQs, but must Anadolu each PTQ.
