Certified Peer Recovery Specialist PRN (As Needed)
The Psychiatric Institute of Washington (PIW) provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addiction illnesses. PIW is a 130-bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial, and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency.
PIW has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. Situated in the safe, historical Tenleytown neighborhood, PIW is one mile from the Tenleytown Metro stop and within walking distance to local cafes and restaurants.
BASIC FUNCTIONThe primary role of the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist is to provide personalized support to individuals who admit to PIW for high-risk opioid use. The CPRS will support individuals in developing their recovery plans through individual and group sessions. They will engage patients in identifying needs, addressing challenges, and planning subsequent steps. They will become familiar with community-based resources and use that information to assist clients in accessing appropriate aftercare planning.
The CPRS works with nurses, counselors, inpatient therapists, and external agencies as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. The goal of the CPRS is to enhance recovery skills, provide ongoing support, improve treatment outcomes, and connect clients to continuing care resources.
