Jefferson County Public Health is seeking a Community Health Educator. The Community Health Educator plans and collaborates with other health specialists, community organizations, and civic groups to ascertain health needs, develop desirable health goals, and determine availability of professional health services. Initiates health promotion discussion in schools, workplaces, community agencies and public forums. Plans for and provides educational opportunities for the community, and provides educational presentations.
Individual needs to be able to perform this job successfully in each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are listed on the job description, and are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or
Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in education or social sciences or closely related field; or equivalent; and five (5) years related experience in teaching or providing education in a health-related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree (M.A.) in education or social sciences or closely related field preferred.
UFCW position, Grade 32, 40 hours/week. Starting pay typically $33.19/hr full hourly range $33.19-$39.63/hour, DOE.
Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. 12 paid holidays, PTO, and bereavement leave.
Prevention Specialist Certification (PSCBW) will be required within one year of employment.
