Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

In accordance with Navajo Nation and federal law, TCRHCC has implemented an affirmative action plan pursuant to the Navajo Preference in Employment Act. Pursuant to this plan and corresponding TCRHCC policy, applicants who meet the necessary qualifications for this position and (1) are enrolled members of the Navajo Nation, Hopi Tribe, or San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe will be given preference in hiring and employment for this position, (2) are legally married to enrolled members of the Navajo Nation, Hopi Tribe, or San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe and meet residency requirements will be given secondary preference, and (3) are enrolled members of other federally-recognized American Indian Tribes will be given tertiary preference.

This position provides services at the TCRHCC main campus. Pharmacist is responsible for providing a comprehensive pharmacy and medication management service to patients and ensures a consistent level of service in accordance to TCRHCC policies. Direct patient care and services are provided to neo-natal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, oncology, and obstetric patients. This position requires working rotational shifts: day, evening, nights, weekends, and holidays.

The position provides the opportunity for career advancement through tier levels of Pharmacist to Advanced Practice Pharmacist as determined by pharmacy experience. Advanced Practice Pharmacist serves as a clinical pharmacist for direct clinical pharmacy services for inpatient and outpatient departments. In addition to the responsibilities of Advanced Practice Pharmacist I, Advanced Practice Pharmacist II is responsible for all specialized pharmacy–based clinics and providing an ongoing analysis of clinical services to develop programs that commensurate with the highest quality of care.

Responsibilities also include the administration of policies and procedures and directing programs and activities in accordance to TCRHCC’s mission, vision, and values. Incumbent serves as the Clinic Manager of Operations at the designated clinic(s) and provides technical and administrative supervision to professional and non-professional employees, i.e. Advanced Practice I, Staff Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacy Billers.

Qualifications

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

Education (Pharmacist I/II & Advanced Practice I/II):

Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from a school recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education

Certification (Pharmacist I/II & Advanced Practice I/II):

  • Must have a current valid and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State or Territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia
  • Must have and maintain a current valid certification of the following throughout employment:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Experience:

  • Pharmacist I:
    Not required for entry level incumbents
  • Pharmacist II: A minimum of one (1) year experience as a Registered Pharmacist
  • Advanced Practice Pharmacist I:
    1) A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Registered Pharmacist; and
    2) A minimum of one (1) year experience as a Clinical Pharmacist
  • Advanced Practice Pharmacist II:
    1) A minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Registered Pharmacist and
    2) a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Clinical Pharmacist

Credentialing (Advanced Practice I/II):

Must become a credentialed member of the TCRHCC Pharmacy Staff

A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers. All employment references must address and indicate success in the following areas:
