Position: Medical Assistant - Lead, Columbia City Clinic

Purpose

The Medical Assistant, Lead (MA) is a flow manager and a vital team member who performs delegated clinical and administrative duties providing direct support to primary care providers and direct care to patients. They work in partnership and joint accountability with other team members to achieve Neighbor care Health’s Mission, Guiding Principles, Service Commitments, and Goals.

Compensation:
  • The target wage range for the position is $26.55 per hour to $33.39 per hour, plus the $2.00 Lead Premium added to the hourly rate
  • Final offers are individually based on various factors, including skill set, years of experience, location, qualifications, work schedule and other job-related reasons.

In this position you will:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform duties and responsibilities with excellence, enthusiasm, great service orientation demonstrating courteous behaviors and mannerisms, and by anticipating medical provider's needs
  • Demonstrate flexibility and readily assist other staff members. Maintains a safe and healthy work environments for patients, self and other
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms for use by medical providers by cleaning, stocking and arranging supplies, equipment and instruments
  • Completes previsit planning ensuring care gaps and necessary follow-up items are identified prior to the visit and conduct huddles with providers to prepare for the day. Greets and escorts patients to examination or treatment room in a respectful, warm and caring manner. Keeps patients, medical providers, and other team members, informed of medical provider's status and/or time delays throughout the day
  • Interview patient to determine reason for visit; takes patient's vital signs, e.g., blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height and weight; blood draws, immunizations, records information in patient's medical record; and reports findings to appropriate personnel, according to WAC standard requirements
  • Instruct and/or assist patients in preparation for scheduled procedures, in a caring and courteous manner. Be present for document informed consent process in EHR
  • Perform appropriate basic, routine and regular delegated medical functions as directed and within appropriate scope of practice as interred by knowledge, skill level, and Neighbor care Health guidelines (e.g.., vision screening, ear irrigations, hearing tests, hematocrit, tonometry measurements, EKG tests, collecting throat, wound, and sputum specimens, and urine cultures) using appropriate instruments, techniques, and specimen labeling process
    • Support medical providers performing routine examination and treatment procedures by attending patient during procedures and providing appropriate supplies and instruments
  • Perform routine clerical and reception duties, as required, such as, maintaining departmental logs, answering telephones and taking massages, and scheduling patient appointments
  • Perform other duties as assigned, such as assisting in orienting and training new staff members, transporting equipment or patients, and stocking shelves.
Medical Assistant Lead –

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist with patient de‑escalation and service recovery using trauma‑informed approaches
  • Support onboarding, training, and orientation of MAs in partnership with Regional Operations Manager
  • Provide feedback to Regional Operations Manager and help identify training gaps or workflow issues
  • Support with MA recruitment and participate in back‑office meetings, huddles, and staff meetings
  • Support with vaccine management, including monthly reporting
  • Generate, review, and help act on relevant back‑office reports as requested
  • Champion site‑level process improvement initiatives and help update training materials or knowledge guides
  • Facilitate routine clinic tasks such as stocking, inventory, transporting equipment, and ordering supplies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Regional Operations Manager or Site Leadership
