The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting central pharmacists and technicians in the delivery of medications and pharmaceutical products under direct supervision of a Pharmacist. Documents and updates documentation for various pharmaceutical products loaded into the automated dispensing machines. Communicates with pharmacy staff and nurses about medication when necessary and appropriate.
Location: Johns Hopkins Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC
Schedule- 6:30 am - 3 pm
- 7:30 am - 4 pm
- 9 am - 5:30 pm
- 2:30 pm - 11 pm

Requirements- Manages inventory of pharmaceuticals and related supplies.
- Complies with pharmaceutical contracts when purchasing.
- Participates in the drug delivery process.
- Organizes work to meet changing priorities.
- Participates in the development of procedures for the department.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
- Reads and understands instructions for product preparation.
- Interprets a variety of operational reports.
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an external pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
- Requires knowledge of pharmacy work routines, procedures, materials and/or equivalent.
- Requires knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication names and aseptic technique.
- 6 months of Hospital Pharmacy Technician experience required.
- Certifications:
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Health career Association (NHA) required.
- Maintains continuing education requirements.
- MD or DC Board of Pharmacy Registration.
