The Psychiatric Institute of Washington (PIW) seeks a Business Development Representative to support Outpatient Services and the Business Development Department with the implementation of the facility’s marketing plan, focusing on outpatient services. The role involves community outreach, strengthening relationships with referral agencies, and positioning PIW as the expert in mental health.
The position requires onsite work 2 days a week and offsite visits 3 days a week within the Washington, DC area.
Referral Development- Conduct one‑to‑one referral development, maintaining existing relationships and prospecting new leads.
- Collaborate with Outpatient and Business Development Directors to plan activities that increase referral sources, improve relations, host onsite events and tours, and attend offsite meetings and conferences to raise visibility.
- Assess the suitability of area clinicians for outpatient referral, expand the network, and support the Case Management and Discharge Planning director.
- Maintain database and perform daily data entry of account and referral source activity in Salesforce.
- Provide lead follow‑up (in‑person at the Day Center) in collaboration with the Outpatient Director and staff.
- Collaborate daily with Outpatient and Business Development Directors to monitor follow‑up activities and provide updates.
- Attend and co‑lead weekly marketing/outpatient meetings.
- Work with Outpatient and Business Development Directors to develop marketing plans and strategies, and provide weekly updates on marketing efforts, contacts, referrals, and admissions.
- Prepare weekly reports for the Business Development Director on related expenses and upcoming travel/marketing plans.
All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree.
- One to three years of business development, marketing, outreach or sales experience, preferably within the medical/psychiatric field.
- Behavioral health, mental health, psychiatric, and/or substance abuse experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.
- Strong communication skills (in‑person, verbal, written).
- Proficient use of computers and software for database maintenance and daily activity entry.
- Availability for day, evening, and weekend hours as required by departmental and facility needs.
