Sr. AWS Dev Ops Database Engineer – Finch AI

We are looking for a Sr. AWS Dev Ops Database Engineer with expertise in AWS RDS (Aurora, Postgre
SQL, MySQL, Oracle on EC2), database administration, infrastructure automation, and Dev Ops best practices. This role involves mentoring engineers, improving Dev Ops processes, and collaborating with development teams in an Agile Scrum environment.
- Deep experience designing, operating, and optimizing Oracle database environments in AWS, focusing on scalability, availability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Support enterprise Oracle workloads in AWS, including architecture design, operational automation, and adherence to best practices.
- Experience with AWS MySQL RDS.
- Tune, monitor, backup, restore, and support AWS RDS.
- Design, build, and maintain AWS cloud environments with a focus on automation and security.
- Automate provisioning and management of AWS resources using Terraform, with familiarity with Cloud Formation and CDK a plus.
- Implement proactive security measures, including vulnerability remediation, patching, firewall rule management.
- Maintain security compliance, support audits.
- Monitor AWS cost usage and provide cost optimization recommendations.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain AWS services such as EC2, S3, ECR, Cloud Watch, Lambda, and SSM.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines with Bitbucket Pipelines and Jenkins.
- Implement database automation aligned with AWS best practices.
- Implement monitoring and logging with Cloud Watch, SSM Agent, Guard Duty, Security Hub, and Datadog.
- Ensure database and infrastructure compliance with AWS security standards.
- Troubleshoot database and infrastructure performance issues using Datadog and AWS performance tools.
- Collaborate with security teams to harden environments.
- 5-8 years of database administration experience (Oracle, Postgre
SQL, MySQL) in AWS. - 3+ years of AWS experience, with strong grasp of services.
- Proficiency in Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure automation.
- Hands‑on experience with Bitbucket Pipelines and Jenkins for CI/CD automation.
- Strong SQL and database scripting skills for automation, tuning, and ETL troubleshooting.
- Experience working with AWS Linux, Rocky Linux, and RHEL.
- Ability to secure and monitor AWS environments with Cloud Watch, SSM, Datadog, and IAM best practices.
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills across Dev Ops and database teams.
- Experience with Docker and containerized database deployments.
- Knowledge of AWS networking and security best practices (VPC, IAM, KMS, Security Hub).
- Understanding of AWS Well‑Architected Framework for database deployments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Must be Public Trust eligible (US Citizenship required).
