The IT Solutions – Applications Engineer is responsible for the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of all internal software applications. This role ensures applications are secure, compliant, reliable, and aligned with business and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will partner closely with IT, Security, Compliance, and business stakeholders to deliver stable and scalable application solutions across the organization.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

Application Deployment & Management

  • Manage the end-to-end deployment of internal software applications, including installation, configuration, updates, and decommissioning.
  • Maintain application inventories, version control, and licensing compliance.
  • Coordinate application rollouts, upgrades, and patches with minimal business disruption.
  • Support cloud-based, on-premises, and hybrid application environments.

Compliance & Security

  • Ensure all applications comply with internal IT policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR—where applicable).
  • Partner with Information Security and Compliance teams at Wind River

    X to support audits, risk assessments, and remediation efforts.
  • Implement and maintain access controls, authentication, and authorization standards for applications.
  • Monitor applications for vulnerabilities and coordinate remediation with vendors and internal teams.

Operations & Support

  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for application-related issues, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution.
  • Develop and maintain application documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with Service Desk teams to improve incident response and knowledge transfer.
  • Monitor application performance, availability, and usage metrics.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work with Wind River

    X leadership stakeholders to gather application requirements and recommend solutions.
  • Act as the technical point of contact for application vendors and third-party service providers.
  • Support new employee onboarding and offboarding by ensuring timely application access and removal.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years supporting internal business systems, identity/access, and enterprise SaaS operations (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience managing enterprise software applications.
  • Strong working knowledge of identity systems and SSO:
    Entra /Azure AD or Okta, SAML, OIDC/OAuth2, SCIM.
  • Strong troubleshooting fundamentals across DNS (records, troubleshooting, split-horizon concepts), HTTP(S), TLS/certificates (common chain/renewal issues), Enterprise networking constraints (proxies, allow listing, firewalls)
  • Experience with endpoint app deployment via Intune/Jamf/SCCM (packaging, deployment rings, detection/remediation logic).
  • Proven ability to document, run incidents to resolution, and prevent repeats.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with application deployment tools, identity and access management systems, and software lifecycle management.
  • Strong understanding of IT security principles and compliance requirements.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with SaaS platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Service Now, Atlassian, Ansible or similar).
  • Familiarity with MDM/UEM tools (e.g., Intune, Jamf, SCCM).
  • Experience supporting audits or compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Scripting or automation experience (Power Shell, Python, Bash).
  • ITIL certification or working knowledge of ITIL practices.
  • Experience administering M365, Atlassian, Service Now (and similar business-critical SaaS).
  • Automation/scripting experience (Power Shell, Python, Bash) and comfort using APIs for repeatable operations.
  • Familiarity with logging/audit sources (M365 audit logs, app audit logs, basic SIEM concepts).
