Senior Data Integrations Specialist – ASIAS

The Senior Data Integrations Specialist provides advanced technical and analytical support to the FAA's Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing (ASIAS) program. This role supports the maintenance, enhancement, and evolution of the ASIAS Safety Information/Data Portal and Advanced Data Architecture (ADA), enabling aviation safety analysis, hazard identification, and decision support across domestic and international stakeholders. The position requires deep expertise in data integration, ETL processes, data architecture, analytics, metadata management, and aviation safety data standards.

• Provide 24/7 operational support for the ASIAS Safety Information/Data Portal, excluding scheduled maintenance.
• Maintain, enhance, and support ASIAS portal functionality for users across multiple global regions.
• Conduct aviation safety analytical studies to identify trends, complex relationships, and emerging hazards.
• Prepare analytical reports, technical papers, and briefings for FAA leadership, safety teams, and stakeholders.
• Support safety teams including CAST, GA JSC, US HST, and other FAA-sponsored initiatives.
• Identify, document, and track user-submitted ASIAS system and support requirements.
• Conduct evaluations of new data sources to enhance ASIAS analytical capabilities.
• Evaluate analytical tools and methodologies for applicability to aviation safety analysis.
• Provide ASIAS user training, help desk support, and portal demonstrations.
• Update and maintain the ASIAS Operations Manual, including operational and security procedures.
• Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) for new databases, tools, and analytical capabilities.
• Maintain backup ASIAS operations at offsite locations as directed.

• Maintain and enhance the ASIAS Advanced Data Architecture using modern COTS data warehousing technologies.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL pipelines for ASIAS source systems.
• Implement and enhance data standardization, data quality, and validation models.
• Maintain and update metadata repositories, including definitions, business rules, and contextual information.
• Support system configuration, performance optimization, integrity, and security compliance.
• Maintain system backup, disaster recovery, and continuity-of-operations procedures.
• Document ADA processes including ETL logic, schedules, QA procedures, system security, and recovery plans.
• Support Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) activities for ASIAS source systems.
• Develop advanced data integration and management capabilities to support safety analytics.
• Design and maintain data models and analytical techniques leveraging leading-edge COTS technologies.

• Support FAA participation in the CAST/ICAO Common Taxonomy Team (CICTT).
• Develop and maintain aviation safety taxonomies, data standards, and valid-value reference tables.
• Design data models supporting the establishment and evolution of aviation safety data standards.
• Collaborate with domestic and international aviation data experts to promote adoption of data standards.
• Provide analytical, facilitation, and technical support for safety team meetings and working groups.
• Prepare research summaries, briefing materials, and meeting documentation.
• Maintain electronic databases and records of data standards and taxonomies.

• Support development of safety metrics for predictive, diagnostic, and prognostic safety analysis.
• Research and evaluate data sources, acquisition constraints, and integration approaches.
• Analyze and document current-state and future-state aviation safety information architectures.
• Perform gap analyses between current and future safety data environments.
• Develop multi-phase implementation plans to transition ASIAS to future-state architectures.
