Business Intelligence and Data Visualization Specialist

The Opportunity:

Immerse yourself in mission-driven energy innovation while supporting the energy client. As a business intelligence and data visualization specialist on our team, you will transform program, financial, market, and technology data into accurate, accessible, and actionable information. You will improve data quality, integrate information from internal and external sources, and develop reporting tools that help clients evaluate program outcomes, technology commercialization, and portfolio performance.

You will work with data on projects from early research through real-world use. You will correct inconsistent records, fill in missing information, organize data, and check it against reliable sources. You will also maintain accurate records on organizations, awards, funding, business deals, intellectual property, licensing, and the progress and impact of new technologies.

You will use tools such as Microsoft Power BI and Excel to develop dashboards, improve recurring reports, identify required data inputs, and create repeatable processes for maintaining key metrics. You will collaborate with analysts, technical experts, data owners, legal and intellectual property professionals, project teams, and system users to understand their needs and deliver practical solutions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working hands-on with data, independently learning new tools and subject areas, investigating inconsistencies, and turning evolving business questions into effective business intelligence products.

Join us. The world can't wait.

You Have:

  • 4+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, data visualization, or data management
  • Experience using advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities, including pivot tables, lookup functions, data validation, Power Query, and repeatable analytical templates
  • Experience developing and maintaining dashboards, reports, or analytical products using a business intelligence platform such as Microsoft Power BI
  • Experience cleaning, standardizing, reconciling, and validating complex data from multiple systems and sources
  • Ability to investigate data discrepancies, identify authoritative sources, document assumptions, and establish effective quality-control processes
  • Ability to translate business and program questions into data requirements, meaningful metrics, dashboards, and reports
  • Ability to independently learn unfamiliar tools, systems, datasets, and subject areas while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced client environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience developing data models, measures, or calculations in Power BI, including DAX or Power Query
  • Experience working with project management systems, customer relationship management platforms, commercial databases, data warehouses, file-transfer processes, or similar enterprise data environments
  • Experience supporting recurring data requests, website metrics, executive reporting, or other time-sensitive client deliverables
  • Experience providing user support, troubleshooting data issues, or helping stakeholders use reporting and information-management systems
  • Knowledge of federal research and development programs, energy technologies, innovation ecosystems, or technology deployment pathways
  • Ability to identify opportunities to streamline and improve data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting processes
  • Possession of excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and client service skills
