Dashboard Developer, Federal Financial Reporting

Heartland Consulting

Salary: $95,000–$110,000 per year

About the role

Heartland Consulting is hiring a Dashboard Developer to turn approved financial and operational data into management views for a Department of Homeland Security shared-services office. The dashboards must match the official reports. This role does not create a second calculation of the bill.

What you will do
  • Build and maintain data extracts from the approved billing and cost sources.
  • Translate those extracts into reports and dashboards for program leadership and customer briefings.
  • Reconcile every published view to the official monthly activity report before release.
  • Support the weekly and monthly status visuals and the biannual program-review exhibits.
  • Document extract logic, refresh steps, and known limitations.
  • Support change requests that affect a report or dashboard under the program change process.
  • Keep non-public program data on the government network. Do not move extracts to a commercial tool or personal device.
  • Bachelor's degree in information management, information technology, computer science, data analytics, accounting, or a related field.
  • Three to six years of experience building reports or dashboards from financial or operational data. SQL and a visualization tool such as Power BI are required. Federal audit-support or financial-reporting experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to reconcile a dashboard total to a source report and explain a difference.
  • Experience writing user notes or short technical procedures.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently. Must currently reside in the United States.
  • Ability to obtain a DHS suitability determination before starting work. No security clearance is required. DHS information-security awareness is required after award; a security-engineer background is not required.
  • Ability to work onsite, full time, at Potomac Center South, 550 12th Street SW, Washington, DC.

Healthcare benefits, including medical, dental, and vision, will be described before the first interview.
