Role Summary

A senior, hands-on test engineer responsible for automated, performance, integration, and regression testing across WHD’s modernized Drupal applications on DOL’s PACE platform (Kubernetes/EKS, Aurora MySQL, Cloud Front/WAF) and legacy .NET/DB2 O&M releases. This role builds and runs the pipeline-integrated test capability that gates monthly releases and validates non-functional requirements for performance, availability, and scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain automated end-to-end and regression test suites (e.g., Cypress) integrated into the Git Lab CI/CD pipeline, gating merges and release candidates on pass/fail results.
  • Plan and execute performance, load, and stress testing (e.g., Locust, JMeter) to verify ≤3-second page/form load under normal and peak load and support for 100,000+ annual submissions; produce performance test reports.
  • Perform API and integration testing for WISE/CAPS Appian APIs, Kafka-based integrations, SharePoint, Login.gov, and DOL SSO.
  • Execute cross-browser and device testing (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge; current and one previous version) and produce mobile/tablet test reports.
  • Generate and manage test data, including masked or synthetic data for PII-bearing workflows.
  • Validate DB2-to-MySQL data migrations through record-count reconciliation, field-level comparison, and data integrity checks.
  • Triage container image and dependency scan results (e.g., Trivy) and static code analysis findings with the Dev Sec Ops  team.
  • Execute regression testing for legacy .NET/DB2 O&M releases and emergency fixes in alignment with Service Now Change Management.
  • Author the test strategy, coverage metrics, and Maintenance Test Plan for each release; mentor testers and analysts on automation practices.
  • Integrate automated accessibility checks (e.g., axe-core) into the pipeline to complement manual Trusted Tester validation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of software testing experience, including 4+ years building and maintaining test automation frameworks.
  • Proficiency with at least one automation framework (Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium) and scripting in JavaScript/Type Script or Python.
  • Hands-on experience with performance testing tools (Locust, JMeter, or k6).
  • Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (Git Lab, Jenkins, or Git Hub Actions) and working with Git.
  • API testing experience (Postman, REST Assured, or similar) and SQL proficiency for data validation.
  • Experience on federal Agile teams using Jira.
  • Must obtain and maintain a favorable NACI / HSPD-12 background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ISTQB Advanced Level or Certified Test Automation Engineer; DHS Trusted Tester certification.
  • Testing applications hosted on Kubernetes or AWS containerized platforms.
  • Experience testing Drupal applications.
  • Familiarity with IBM DB2 and MySQL/Aurora.
  • Experience using DOL-approved AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to generate and maintain test scripts
Our Profile:

We are an IT company with a unique mission—to make people the center of every federal IT solution. Our technologists have always gone the extra mile to help our federal clients succeed. And over the years, we saw a growing disconnect in how federal IT initiatives were built and managed.

Time after time, programs failed because the focus was on the tools and products and not the people using them.

NuAxis is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Learn More about our Benefits and Culture!
