Base Pay Range

• Clearance: Must presently possess an active TS/SCI security clearance and be able to obtain a CI polygraph after hire.
• Schedule: Full‑time, 9 am‑5 pm, flexible with travel 2‑3 times per year.
• Experience: ILR Level 3 (Professional Working Proficiency) in Brazilian Portuguese and English; prior experience supporting DoD, IC, or federal government language programs; experience working in austere or deployed settings; willingness to travel.

• Category III (CAT III) Portuguese/Brazilian Linguist providing high‑accuracy translation, interpretation, transcription, analysis, and cultural advisement in support of national security missions.

• Consecutive interpretation and translation between Portuguese (Brazilian) and English during ongoing conversations, briefings, and intelligence collection activities.
• Real‑time and non‑real‑time transcription and translation with emphasis on accuracy, completeness, and context.
• Produce idiomatic translations of non‑technical materials using correct syntax and expression; accurately interpret/translate colloquial and slang usage.
• Provide cultural and ethnic context for translations and interpretations; advise users on cultural/ethnic significance of statements, conversations, situations, and documents.
• Conduct document exploitation (DOMEX): scan, research, and analyze foreign language materials to identify and report intelligence information.
• Supplement interpretations/translations with profession‑specific terminology (e.g., medical, scientific, engineering, legal) when pertinent.
• Support mission requirements across oral reports, public addresses (non‑technical), and some oral technical reports; maintain accuracy under time constraints.
• Maintain strict confidentiality, comply with all security policies, and contribute to team workflows in dynamic operational environments.

• Active TS/SCI security clearance and ability to obtain a CI polygraph after hire.
• Self‑motivated, disciplined, and mature professional capable of operating with little tasking and oversight.
• Capable of operating within a diverse environment and comfortable with limited guidance.
• ILR Level 3 proficiency in both Portuguese (Brazilian) and English.
• Understanding of essential speech in a standard dialect with broad vocabulary, rarely requiring paraphrasing or explanation.
• Ability to follow accurately the essentials of conversations between educated native speakers.
• Reasonably make and answer telephone calls in Portuguese.
• Understanding of radio broadcasts, news stories similar to wire service reports, oral reports, some oral technical reports, and public addresses on non‑technical subjects.
• Prior experience supporting DoD, IC, or federal government language programs.
• Proficiency with translation tools and linguistic analysis software; experience with secure systems and workflows.
• Knowledge of domain‑specific terminology (e.g., medicine, scientific, engineering, legal) and the ability to apply it correctly in interpretation/translation.
• Experience working in austere or deployed settings; willingness to travel as mission dictates.
