Are you a seasoned legal professional with a sharp eye for detail and a business‑first mindset? We’re supporting an Energy company that is looking for a Commercial Counsel to join their dynamic in‑house legal team and help shape the future of energy innovation.

In this role, you’ll be at the heart of their operations – drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements that power our partnerships and projects. You’ll work closely with teams across business, finance, supply chain, and project development to ensure contracts align with strategic goals, mitigate risk, and support rapid growth.

This role requires being in‑office 5 days a week in Washington, DC.

What You’ll Do:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts, including PPAs, EPC agreements, O&M agreements, procurement contracts, NDAs, and more.
  • Provide practical legal advice to internal teams across development, operations, procurement, and finance.
  • Manage the full contract lifecycle and maintain contract management tools.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local energy laws and regulations.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes impacting our industry.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel and support internal audits and risk assessments.
What We’re Looking For:
  • JD degree and admission to at least one U.S. state bar in good standing.
  • 6+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally a mix of law firm and in‑house roles.
  • Strong background in commercial contracting and negotiation.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain legal concepts to non‑lawyers.
  • Business‑oriented mindset with strong judgment and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience in energy, infrastructure, or technology sectors preferred.
  • Familiarity with international contracting and cross‑border deal structures is a plus.

If you’re ready to make an impact in a rapidly evolving industry and work on projects that matter, we’d love to hear from you!
