SummaryThis position serves as the Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist – Chief Supply Chain Officer responsible for the development and integration of a supply chain that ensures the logistical requirements of the VA Health Care Systems and supported catchment areas are met.
QualificationsApplicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement – 01/15/2026. Time‑in‑Grade Requirement: current Federal employees who have held a GS grade within the past 52 weeks must also meet time‑in‑grade by the closing date. For a GS‑14 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS‑13 level. An SF‑50 that shows your time‑in‑grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS‑13) that is directly related to the work of the position is required. Specialized experience includes serving as a senior supply chain management leader/supervisor – responsible for ensuring the logistical requirements of an organization are met; planning, coordinating, and evaluating various operations to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of a logistics program.
Knowledge and skill areas include acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management, warehouse operations, budget formulation, and forecasting of expenditures. Preferred: experience and working knowledge of hospital operations – clinical supply chain needs and support functions.
- Oversees – guides – manages and integrates supply chain operations across the organization.
- Plans and coordinates fiscal – acquisition – clinical and administrative operations.
- Establishes – monitors and manages the performance and measurement of logistics functions for all aspects of the supply chain.
- Conducts logistics audits, compliance reviews and program effectiveness/efficiency reviews.
- Manages all activities involved in the supply chain management to include sourcing, procurement and logistics management activities.
- Responsible for linking major business functions and processes within the organization into a cohesive and high‑performing business model.
- Forecast planning and budget execution for supplies, subsistence, durable medical equipment, medical gases, expendable/non‑expendable and capital equipment, inventory management, warehouse operations, transportation and distribution.
- Leads and/or participates in regular meetings to ensure logistics needs and requirements are being met.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
