Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring DC licensure and advanced neurocritical care skills.
Responsibilities
• Work in a Neuro ICU within a hospital setting
• Majority of shifts are 12-hour days, with up to two weeks of night shifts within each six-week schedule
• Care for neurocritical patients requiring specialized monitoring and interventions
• Special equipment includes EVD, Raumedic Bolt, Artic Sun, CVVH, lytic catheter, Flo-tracker, and occasional PA-catheter use
• Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
• No on-call requirement
• Work schedule includes every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Responsibilities include advanced neurocritical assessments, equipment management, and participation in trauma-related care
• Scrub color is ceil blue; scrubs are not provided
• Pre-employment modules and specialty-specific training are completed prior to or during orientation
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must not have been employed at this health system within the past 12 months to be eligible
• Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a lower pay rate
• No more than 7 days of requested time off (RTO) permitted during contract, and no RTO allowed in the first two weeks of assignment
Requirements
• Active RN license (DC, compact, or pending DC with proof of application at submission and in hand by start date)
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Neuro ICU experience required
• Certifications required: BCLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• CCRN certification preferred
• Proficiency with conscious sedation, ICP, and ventilator management
• Experience with Level 1 trauma, pulmonary artery lines, IV starts, and phlebotomy preferred
• Flu vaccine required
• Two supervisor references required
• Must have valid state driver's license matching listed address if applying as local candidate
