About PRN at Knollwood
A PRN (pro re nata — “as needed”) CNA at Knollwood are a critical part of our care delivery model. You are not a
temporary fill — you are a vetted member of our extended nursing team. PRN staff are held to the same clinical
and professional standards as our full - time C NA staff . In return, you g et schedule flexibility and the option to
transition to a regular position when one aligns with your goals.
A PRN CNA must maintain a minimum availability commitment to remain active in our pool. You will be
contacted for shifts by unit charge staff based on census and scheduling needs.
About the Role
As a PRN CNA , you will provide direct personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) for
residents under the supervision of charge nursing staff. Your presence, consistency, and genuine at tentiveness
are what residents and families remember most. This is a resident - facing, hands - on care role that directly shapes
the daily experience of those we serve.

  • Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and hygiene in a dignified and person - centered manner
  • Provide mobility support including transfers, repositioning, ambulation, and wheelchair transport
  • Support residents during meals and monitor dietary intake, reporting concerns to nursing staff
  • Measure and record v ital signs accurately and document in the electronic health record
  • Monitor residents for changes in condition and report observations to the charge nurse promptly
  • Answer call lights within the five - minute standard and respond with urgency and care
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized resident rooms and common care areas
  • Implement restorative care programs as directed and assist with range of motion exercises
  • Follow infection control, PPE, and hand hygiene protocols without exception
  • Respond to emergencies pe r established protocols, including CPR when certified
  • Engage residents and families with compassion, respect, and professional communication

What We Are Looking For

Required
  • Active CNA certification in the District of Columbia, in good standing
  • Current BLS /CPR certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
  • Satisfactory background check in accordance with DC DOH requirements
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods across 8 – 12 hour shifts
Preferred
  • Minimu m 1 year of experience in long - term care, assisted living, or hospital setting
  • Familiarity with electronic documentation systems (Matrix Care preferred)
  • Experience in a CCRC or Life Plan Community environment
  • Bilingual communication skills
PRN Scheduling and Pay Pay Rate Depending Upon Experience

$ 23.50 – $ 24.50 per hour with differential

Availability Required

Minimum 2 shifts per month; day, evening, and overnight shifts available; weekend availability expected
