The Ice Resurfacer Operator is responsible for maintaining safe and high‑quality ice conditions for a variety of events and activities. The operator will prepare the ice surface before and after events, practices, and recreational sessions.
Primary Responsibilities- Assist with ice setup and takedown for events
- Ensure compliance with safety standards while operating machinery and working near athletes and spectators
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance of ice resurfacer and edger
- Monitor ice quality throughout events or recreational sessions, adjusting as necessary
- Collaborate with the ice operations team to ensure efficient use of time and resources
- Keep the ice rink area clean and free from hazards
- Perform general maintenance tasks around the rink, including sweeping and cleaning
- Respond to incidents, accidents, injuries, and altercations; complete and file corresponding paperwork
- Assist other departments as needed
- Practice safe operating techniques as specified by STAR for blade changes, driving, resurfacing, handling, and inspection of machines; accurately record all ice and equipment maintenance and readings daily
- Complete special projects, daily assignments, and other duties as directed by management
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of ice maintenance and resurfacing procedures
- Valid driver’s license
- Certified Ice Technician (CIT) preferred
- Ability to work irregular shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on facility schedules
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating machinery
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Work performed in an ice arena environment with cold temperatures and varying noise levels
Salary: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour
