Armed Protective Security Officers (PSO) – Washington, D.C.

Protect the principal against possible threats. Federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks, security equipment monitoring, roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal property. Monitoring surveillance cameras for any disruptions or unlawful activities. Provide detailed reports on daily activities and/or incidents. Knowledgeable with magnetometers and X‑ray machines. Use provided communication devices, such as two-way radios. Leverage excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures.

Perform CPR or first aid when needed. Maintain credentials per contract requirements. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Project Manager.

• At least 21 years of age.
• United States citizen or lawful permanent resident with verifiable honorable discharge from any component of the U.S. Armed Forces.
• Valid Social Security Card.
• Minimum two (2) years of armed security experience or one (1) year of full‑duty law‑enforcement experience.
• Minimum two (2) years as a member of any U.S. Armed Forces with an honorable discharge.
• Fluent in English speaking, reading, and writing.
• Ability to qualify with a revolver or semi‑automatic firearm.
• Strong relevant knowledge of the security industry.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer‑service driven mindset and effective communication with all levels of internal and external customers.

• Physically able to perform tasks in the performance of assigned duties.
• Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per day.
• Frequent contact with general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center; must speak clearly and remain calm in stressful situations.
• Remain on post for up to four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or receiving a break.
• Maintain alertness for up to 12 hours, mentally and physically reacting quickly to unexpected and dangerous situations.
• Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent individuals or intervene in a crisis.
• Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, and climbing stairs.

Certification requirements: MD Security Guard Certification (Unarmed), MD Armed Guard Card, Tri‑Annual Refresher Exhibit, CPR/American Red Cross Certification, NWDTP Training, Firearms Qualification, Initials Weapon Training, O.C. aerosol spray, MEB Expandable Baton, Basic Training Exhibits 72/64 hours, DHS Suitability, National Weapons Detection Training Program, FPS Orientation Certificate.
