Part‑Time Protective Security Officer
Location: St. Elizabeth's
Position SummaryThe Post Security Officer (PSO) performs armed security posts and provides security for personnel, property, and visitors at assigned U.S. Government property. The position may also include duty in a Control Center. The shift schedule is 1800‑0600 on Friday and Saturday, with potential for other shifts, including day, swing, and overnight. This is a union position.
Pay$38.50 per hour.
Responsibilities- Screen and process visitors efficiently.
- Identify, report, delay, or detain persons who violate rules and regulations.
- Conduct internal and external roving foot patrols and traffic control.
- Operate x‑ray machine with excellent detection rate.
- Respond to alarms and emergencies.
- Maintain communication via two‑way radio or company‑issued cellular phone.
- Comply with company documents, including Post and General Orders, plans, policies, and procedures.
- Provide first aid, CPR, and assist during emergencies.
- Wear protective body armor as part of the duty uniform.
- Maintain training, physical fitness, agility, and weapons qualifications.
- Work in a busy environment with frequent interruptions; ability to work day, swing, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Perform heavy work, including exertion of up to 200 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
- Operate motor vehicles, heavy equipment, firearms, and other machinery with visual and audio acuity.
- Work outdoors in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
- Tolerate high noise levels.
- Handle hazards involving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, high heat, or chemicals.
- Wear respirator if required.
- Stand for extended periods, climb stairs or ladders, and walk‑up inclines or uneven terrain.
- Meet all physical and psychological contract standards.
- Travel may be required.
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with current or past U.S. Armed Forces service.
- Valid Social Security card.
- Minimum of two years of armed security or law‑enforcement experience, or two years of honorable military service.
- High‑school diploma or equivalent, or 60 credit hours in a related field, or completion of a federally or state‑certified law‑enforcement training course.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Minimum age 21.
- Meets all contract medical, physical, drug, psychological, background, training, and FPS suitability requirements.
- Secret clearance preferred but not required.
